Brooks jumped on the Welcome writers’ band wagon early on and has been writing pithy, first-Friday columns ever since. He and his wife, Sheila, live in Turlock very near Stanislaus State, (a happenstance that neither let go to waste; both earned California teaching credentials by attending night and weekend classes years after beginning careers and raising a family.) The one time Brooks had a genuine excuse to miss a month (he was to go under the surgeon’s knife) he made certain to get his column in a week before the procedure. That’s the kind of guy he is. In addition to writing Welcome columns, our valued web teammate writes semi-regular editorials for both the San Francisco Chronicle and the Oakland Tribune. Does Brooks Judd have opinions?
