Columbia Fiddle and Bango Contest

September 23 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Rock in Road Presents:
The 39th Annual Columbia Fiddle & Bango Contest

Columbia’s first contest took place in 1983, when “banjo” was spelled incorrectly on the t-shirts, and it’s been named Fiddle & Bango ever since. What makes Columbia’s Fiddle & Bango Contest special (besides the quirky name) is that it is especially accessible to performers of all levels of skill. It is Rock in Road’s mission to keep it that way, and simultaneously increase youth participation in this beloved event.

Entry is FREE for kids 18 and under. The fee for adults to compete is $15 per entry. The whole community and the event are especially welcoming to first time performers and youth music students have a really good chance of placing in several categories. Kids are judged alongside adults by the same criteria, and have still won the gold nugget grand prize during contests in the past.

The contest will be held in the gazebo.
Competition sign-ups begin at 9:00am
Contest starts at 10:30am

Parking and attendance are free for the public.
Please join us for a family-friendly, pets welcomed, day of music and fun, on the shaded streets of Columbia State Historic Park. Remember to bring a chair!
Be there to cheer on contestants in the following categories:
-original song

All levels of talent are encouraged to participate. Plus the ever popular Poison Oak Show will be at the nearby St. Charles Saloon. Historic Columbia is home to several great eateries, saloons, attractions, and shops.
