Our Hotel

The Bakersfield Marriott, venue for the Bakersfield Great 48, is located at 801 Truxtun Avenue. The front of the hotel looks out on the corner of Truxtun Avenue and “Q” street, and the hotel is one block west of the Amtrak station.

Nearly all rooms have been reserved but you can still contact Michelle Sanchez at 661-565-9320, [email protected] and put your name on a waiting list, should there be any last-minute cancellations. While the 2nd and 9th floors have already been designated jamming floors, the Marriott will determine how many other floors are quiet floors and how many are jamming floors based on specific reservation requests received. If you make your reservation online, please be sure to contact Michelle Sanchez if you have a floor preference or any specific room requirements. Check in is 4:00 pm, check out is 12:00 pm.

According to Michelle Sanchez, Reservationist and Rooms Coordinator for the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center, “Everything with booking for the Great 48 has been great!! Everyone has been a pleasure to work with and we are all excited to be hosting you again.”

JAM PACKED with PLACES TO JAM

After checking in with the Marriott, stop by the Great 48 Welcome table and pick up a Great 48 Program Guide, sign up for Saturday’s Open Mic Night, and purchase your souvenir CBA merchandise!

Inside the hotel lobby, jamming is encouraged wherever two or more can gather to make music, and spontaneous jams will form at various times in the M.I. Great Room, Business Center, and ballroom hallway. Hosted jams, master classes and workshops will be scheduled in the Ballroom Salons A-D, the Hammons Room, and the East Portico by the Convention Center.

January weather in Bakersfield’s high desert biome can be warm, dry, cold, rainy, or foggy. Historically, average high temps range from 58-62 degrees F., lows from 38-43 degrees F. Typically Bakersfield in early January has cloud cover, or Tule fog in the evenings and mornings – but we’ll all find out what 2023 has in store at the same time!

Depending on the time of day, outside jamming can be quite pleasant in the South Side Parking area, the Pre-function Area Exterior, the North Side Front Entrance Portico, or the patio area outside the M.I. Great Room (there’s a nice fire-pit).
