Hello Monroe Crossing fans,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, Monroe Crossing has some important news to share. First, our banjo player, David Robinson, has announced he will be leaving Monroe Crossing at the end of next summer to pursue other musical adventures. We are so glad David has shared his amazing talents with us over the past seven years. We will be sad to see him go but wish him the best of luck.
The second announcement is Monroe Crossing has decided to scale back on our appearances beginning in 2020. Can you believe this coming year marks 19 years of Monroe Crossing? Our musical journey has brought us to many exciting places where we have met so many kind-hearted people. We are truly thankful.
As our CD says, “The Road Has No End,” but that doesn’t mean we can’t slow down a little bit. We will still be active, especially in our home state of Minnesota, but our appearances will be less often, making only the occasional extended road trip. We greatly appreciate all the support you have given us throughout the years. We have wonderful fans everywhere and we’re sorry if we may not be seeing you as often.
But I’m getting ahead of myself! We have a very active year ahead in 2019. David’s “final” show will be next summer at the Minnesota Bluegrass August Festival. We have already begun conducting a search for his replacement (or perhaps replacements) to help finish out our schedule for 2019. After that we will see what 2020 brings. Our music will continue, so stay tuned!
Your friends in bluegrass,
Derek Johnson and Monroe Crossing
