This is a big combination concert/open jam/and potluck celebrating John Hettinger’s 80th Birthday and his daughter’s (Julie) 48th birth-day. John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band: August 17, Sacramento
John Jorgenson has been in the forefront of acoustic music for many years. In the bluegrass world, his mandolin and guitar playing have been recognized at the highest levels. No less an authority than Earl Scruggs picked John to play mandolin with him on the road during his final years touring,  His Band, the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band (J2B2) will perform on August 17th at Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts, 2700 Capitol Ave, Sacramento.  Their performance starts at 7 PM.  Tickets are $35 at ticketfly.com/venue/27566-sofia-tsakopoulos-center-for-the-arts/

Rita Hosking, Berryessa Brewing, August 18, Winters & August 29 at Tahoe
The Rita Hosking Trio plays at Berryessa Brewing in Winters for their new August Summer Night Concert series. Her stories, songs and soul-stirring, country-folk voice are partnered with multi-instrumentalist Sean Feder on dobro, banjo and guitar, and Bill Dakin on upright bass. Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival, August 17 – 19, Bowers Mansion County Park, Nevada
The 2018 Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival performances are on the 18th of August from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM.   Blue Highway, John Jorgensen Bluegrass Band (J2B2), Sonoran Dogs, Sage Creek, Suspect Terrane & Mosquito Road will fill the ticket.  Tickets are $25.00 on line or $30.00 after August 11 and at the gate.  Purchase via PayPal at nnba.org until August 11.  Bowers Mansion County Park is at 4005 Bowers Mansion Rd, New Washoe City, Nevada (about halfway between Reno and Carson City, NV on Old highway 395).

The Golden Old-Time Camp Out, August 23 – 26, Browns Valley, CA
Enjoy four day’s of camping, R & R but mostly pickin your favorite tunes with everyone, under the shade of the Sycamore trees, along-side the Yuba River.  Tent camping and RV sites are available, and a free RV dump station is on site.  Be sure to tell your friends.
