‘SCVFA Jam Sunday

This Sunday (Feb. 5, 2012), the Santa Clara Valley Fiddlers
Association has its monthly jam from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Hoover
Middle School, 1635 Park Ave, San Jose. February is also when we hold
our annual membership meeting at 3:00 PM. Members will vote to reelect
Dave Williams and elect Tom Clausen as trustees to 3 year terms. I

Beginners Circle (Slow Jam)

Gary Breitbard will be teaching our Beginners Circle (Slow Jam)
starting at 2:00 PM. He is a well known fiddler in old-time circles
and also plays international music in the Vecernica Folk Music

Jack Tuttle teaches KidFiddle Workshop

On March 4, Jack Tuttle will teach our KidFiddle workshop (only $5 –
for youths 17 and under). Jack teaches at Gryphon Stringed Instruments
in Palo Alto and is one of the best known instructors of traditional
music in Northern California. Jack won the Best Fiddle Player award on
Jan. 28 given by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.

Mini-Concert with Jack Tuttle and sons Michael and Sullivan

Also on March 4, Jack will give a 30 minute mini-concert with his sons
Michael and Sullivan following the workshop. Michael Tuttle won the
best mandolin player award on Jan. 28 given by the Northern California
Bluegrass Society, and the Tuttles with A.J. Lee won the best Northern
California bluegrass band! This mini-concert is included in the door
admission price ($6 members; $8 non-members; youths 17 and under


Also on March 4, SCVFA member Tom Mitchell will bring his recently
completed CD “Tom Mitchell and Friends” and perform on stage. The CD
has five SCVFA members on it and was produced by Paul Indman under the
guidance of Joe Weed. More details next month.
