Born and raised in Liverpool, UK, multi instrumentalist Barry Southern has for years been a leading organizer and luminary of the thriving Bluegrass and Old Time scene there. He was instrumental in the formation of Liverpool’s most popular bluegrass band The Loose Moose Stringband, who inspired a generation of bluegrass and old time fans and players there through their raucous concerts. After an early music career playing electric guitar with cult heroes Tramp attack, he met partner Gabrielle Macrae in 2012 while both on tour with their different bands. Soon after, Barry moved to the US and together formed The Horsenecks, their current main project. Three studio albums (with a fourth soon set for release) showcase Barry’s versatility playing both Old Time and Bluegrass banjo styles, as well as different guitar styles, both acoustic and electric.
