California’s premier festival of Old Time music:
The Berkeley Old Time Music Convention!

Info here:

The excitement is building for this year’s Berkeley Old Time Music Convention,
Thursday September 24th, through Sunday September 27th. There will be two
nights of great performances you will not want to miss, featuring a wide variety
of notable traditional artists from all over the U.S. It all happens online, and yes,
along with many other events, we will again this year hold our illustrious
STRING BAND CONTEST, with registration opening Tuesday, Sept. 1st.

In addition, there will be online jams, workshops by many of the performers and
more, a panel discussion, and two morning concerts for kids. Most events will be
free, workshops, on zoom, will have a fee, and we’ll ask for donations for the

Our lineup starts with Eddie Bond, a 2018 National Endowment for the Arts
award recipient, a spellbinding performer and bearer of tradition. Bluegrass Hall
of Fame inductee and national treasure Alice Gerrard plays with the great Kay

Also playing is Jake Blount. Jake’s recording, Spider Tales, has been released
recently to great acclaim. What a treat it will be to hear the award winning Slate
Mountain Ramblers, a stellar string band normally only seen at local events and
Fiddler’s conventions in Virginia and North Carolina.

The Horsenecks, Jody Stecher and Kate Brislin, are two West coast musical
duos gracing our virtual stage. Hailing from different generations, they are a
brilliant contrast. Yet both duos are intensely compelling, driven by harmony
vocals and deep skills on many instruments.

This list goes on with The Evie Ladin Band, David Greely, Plaid Strangers, Earl
White, Squirrel Butter, Tony Thomas, Birches Bend, WB Reid and Bonnie
Zahnow, and Joseph Decosimo of The Bucking Mules will be teaching a banjo

Concerts will be streamed on the Facebook page, Quarantine Happy Hour (, and
on our BOTMC Youtube channel (, and will begin at 6:00 Pacific Time. Check our complete schedule of events here:
