Savage Bond

Songwriters Hope Savage and Alan Bond met at Armando’s Listening Room in Martinez, California, at the monthly bluegrass jam over a decade ago. They found they made a darn good musical pairing. Teaming up formally in 2019 as Hope Savage Alan Bond Duo, they performed original acoustic music in many venues around the San Francisco Bay Area and then live-streamed during the pandemic lockdown every Sunday morning to as many as 1000 viewers each week. Tom Lucas joined them in early 2022, filling out the sound with bass, banjo, and fiddle for their unique California bluegrass, Americana, and old-time styles. They feature acoustic guitars, mandolins, banjo, fiddle, and sweet vocal harmonies.

Savage Bond has just released an excellent 24-track album of original music called AmeriCali Alley. A recent reviewer of this album describes the band perfectly: “Just wanted you to know that I’ve derived great enjoyment from the Savage Bond album. It’s a fabulous piece of work that’s on heavy rotation in my car. It’s great to listen to something that is clearly artisanal, hand-made and crafted with care.”

As performers and artists, the band is constantly working up fresh material and exploring new frontiers for American music, expressing, from its very core, creativity, heart, and fun they call “AmeriCali.” They play high-quality, original music that many fans request at shows, such as the rocking original bluegrass song, “Learning from Vern and Ray,” about Alan’s teenage years, following and emulating the musical style of the legendary Vern Williams and Ray Park. Savage Bond is always family-friendly and looking to start a good time, rooted in tradition yet fresh and new.
