Silver City entertains audiences with a lively mix of bluegrass and modern Americana roots music. Leta Simons (vocals and guitar) and Dan Pollak (vocals and upright bass) have been partners in life and music for over 15 years. Their distinctive vocals and superb harmonies highlight a playlist of hidden gems, well-crafted originals, and new renditions of old favorites backed by some of Northern California’s best musicians.
Leta and Dan developed the sound and repertoire of Silver City with a focus on music that is fun and entertaining. Spanning bluegrass, classic country, Western swing and modern Americana, the band covers Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brother and Flatt & Scruggs alongside Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett and Gillian Welch. In addition, you’ll hear standout and memorable originals penned by Leta, who is a veteran singer/songwriter in her own right.
Silver City originated in the Washington, D.C. area where they had a popular 10-year run and released their first CD, “Somewhere In These Hills.” The California version of the band has been entertaining audiences at festivals, fairs, concerts and pubs in the Central Valley, Foothills and Bay Area since 2023. Leta and Dan work with an exceptional roster of area musicians, regularly featuring Tom Shewmake on mandolin and Giorgi Khokhobashvili on fiddle. Silver City combines these talents to showcase a high-spirited mix of music that blends tradition and originality.
