The Stoney Mountain Ramblers

The Stoney Mountain Ramblers are honored and excited to celebrate their 25th anniversary on Vern’s Stage. Formed in 2001, when most of their kids attended the same preschool, the Ramblers have grown from farmers’ market favorites into “one of Menlo Park’s finest bluegrass bands.” Influenced by Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and the Dead, and shaped by countless late-night jam circles at the Strawberry Music Festival, the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, and the CBA Father’s Day Festival. SMR plays straight-ahead bluegrass with a few audience-pleasing “grassified” rock and folk tunes thrown in. Expect barn-burning instrumentals, hot picking, and high-lonesome harmonies.

The band features Gary Anwyl on dobro, Troy Hager on guitar, “Doc” Scott Klein on mandolin, Bill Hamburgen on bass, Steve Joynes on fiddle, and Scott Dailey on banjo. All members contribute lead and harmony vocals, bringing decades of Bay Area bluegrass experience to the stage. The Stoney Mountain Ramblers are proud to bring their sound—and their long-standing love of the music—to Vern’s Stage.
