Peter Thompson’s amazing monthly compilation of all things Bluegrass!

Feb 3, 2022 | Announcements

Greetings –

Thanks for your interest in Bay Area bluegrass and old time music events — and for sending me updates and corrections. Please visit the Bluegrass Signal web site for the latest listings and playlists, as well as a number of items and articles of interest to bluegrass and old time music fans. These include a listing of NorCal bands (a section which needs considerable updating!), Bay Area bluegrass history (1959-2001), and Bluegrass Signal compilations, including Turn Your Radio On.

I’ve tried to make the listings in this newsletter as complete and up-to-the-minute as possible, but please be aware that not everything will happen as scheduled. In our (seemingly permanent) time of covid and its variants, you are always advised to confirm an event before attending — and to follow whatever guidelines are part of that event.

Difficult as 2021 was, there were a number of fine albums released, and I’ve finally produced a radio show with some of my favorites. It will be broadcast on KALW this Saturday (Feb. 5th) from 5-6 pm, and on Bluegrass Country four times during the week of Feb. 14-20. The album covers are above, and the show’s playlist is at the end of this newsletter.

Thanks very much for being part of Bay Area bluegrass & old time music!
