The Clinton Davis String Band

The Clinton Davis String Band has emerged as a compelling new presence in the West Coast old-time music community. This trio of versatile multi-instrumentalists plays a repertoire representing old time, bluegrass, and ragtime traditions from across the country.

The band is led by native Kentuckian Clinton Davis, who has been called “a master…carrying on the traditional music torch of Mike Seeger” by Stefan Grossman, and “simply sublime” by Deering Banjos.

Band member Tim McNalley is a composer, arranger, and songwriter from Southern California. While most seen on the upright and electric bass, he also performs on guitar, keyboards, cello, violin, mandolin, and sitar. He has collaborated Paul McCartney, Ariana Grande, Adam Melchor, Changuito, Jim Kweskin, Burt Turetzky, among others.

Ryan Finch pursued his love of music starting in his hometown of Bishop, California, then moving to the Bay Area, to Boston, and then back. Focusing on the technical side of music production, Ryan moved to San Diego, where he engineers and produces artists. He performs on piano, guitar, bass, banjo, and mandolin.
