Song List: I’m Ready to Go, Walking With My Saviour, I’ll Be No Stranger There, I Need the Prayers, The Mighty Name of Jesus, Music in My Soul, There Is Power in the Blood, The Storm, The Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn, My Lord Is Taking Me Away, I Am a Pilgrim, My Lord Keeps a Record, Are You Lost in Sin?, We’re Living in the Last Days Now.

In the early days of the Long Playing record album, the words High Fidelity were often placed prominently on the covers in praise of a superior recording process. We have now progressed beyond vinyl records (though some purists still prefer them) to CDs and now streaming directly from the internet. Some folks still find treasures in the past and traditional ways, and the young band High Fidelity strives to capture the sound of the singers of the past.

Band members are Jeremy Stephens on lead vocals, guitar and banjo, Corrina Rose Logston Stephens on fiddle and vocals, Kurt Stephenson on banjo, guitar and vocals, Daniel Amick on mandolin, guitar and vocals, and Vickie Vaughn on bass and vocals. The band’s ability to play multiple instruments has given them power to perform outstanding instrumentals and their vocals have also varied with different configurations. The band formed in 2014, and they were nomination in 2019 for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s “New Artist of the Year” award.

The only original song is Corrina’s “The Mighty Name of Jesus” and the upbeat praise song has Jeremy and Corrina in tandem with a fiddle and banjo instrumental backdrop. Other songs come from the repertoire of some of bluegrass music greats: Ralph Stanley’s “Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn” and a stirring lead vocal followed by a harmony chorus, and “Are You Lost in Sin?” from Jim and Jesse McReynolds which also features banjo and fiddle. “Walking With My Saviour” has a joyful call and response vocal, and “There Is Power in the Blood” is a stirring instrumental that showcases the band’s instrumental skills. “Music in My Soul” has an upper register female lead contrasting with a lower response from the male singers and is an outstanding vocal highlight. The band has cloned the high fidelity sound of the early days of bluegrass and is a welcome contrast to the more contemporary bands on today’s scene.
