CBA Updates: Cancellations, Elections, and the Members Meeting in October

Written by:

I wanted to let ya’ll know about two important CBA announcements today. First, the CBA Board of Directors regretfully had to announce cancelation of the 2020 Golden Old Time Campout scheduled for August 29-30, our 2020 Fall Campout scheduled for October 12-18, and the 2021 Great 48 scheduled for January 07-10, 2021.

Our primary consideration in making this decision is the safety and health of all our participants, musicians, vendors, and volunteers. At this time, while there is significant uncertainty about the progress of the Coronavirus pandemic, it appears likely that there will be ongoing infections and deaths into early 2021, as well as local and statewide restrictions on large gatherings. In light of this, we believe the safest option is to cancel the remaining 2020 events and focus on planning for our 2021 season.

Second, we will be conducting the CBA Board elections by electronic balloting and you will receive an email in early September with information on voting. We have an awesome slate of candidates with 12 candidates running for 11 open seats….including eight current incumbent board members running for re-election, and five new nominees….it’s gonna be a barn burner! Our new candidates are scattered from all over the state this year with a candidate from San Francisco, one from Rhonert Park, and 3 candidates from Southern California. They all attended our board meeting on Zoom yesterday and weren’t scared off by our sausage making….errrr CBA business discussions. I am sooooo encouraged. We will email you when the candidate statements are ready for viewing which should be before we email the ballot instruction.

Because of the Coronavirus pandemic we chose to holding the CBA Board elections electronically, which means most of you will be able to vote from the comfort of your home, your car, on your computer, iPad, android phone, and maybe even an old rotary phone. Some of you don’t have email addresses in our database so we will be contacting you by USPS with directions for voting, or you could send us your email address. If you need more information or help, feel free to directly contact me or other members of the board. The elections will be open from about September 1 and close early afternoon on Saturday October 17, and we will announce the results in our annual members meeting during our virtual online Fall campout. Oh did I mention that we are going to hold the 2020 Members meeting electronically. We are in the planning stages for this right now so we will post more on this later, closer to October 17 but it will include music, CBA Board reports, some open question and answer sessions, and of course the election results. The new CBA board of directors will be empaneled at the scheduled meeting on Sunday morning October 18, which I will invite all of you to attend as well. Check out our events calendar for more information on that.

For the elections to be binding, we need a quorum of members to vote, which would be about 250 members. Please vote…every year we squeak by with the quorum and I would like to bust all the records this year.

As always, be safe, be careful, and be well.
