Ida Winfree is a 22-year-old bluegrass mandolinist, guitarist, and vocalist from Turlock, California. Inspired by her dad’s love of bluegrass, Ida developed a passion for traditional acoustic music at an early age. Growing up immersed in the bluegrass community, she spent much of her childhood attending festivals and youth music camps, where she developed her skills and formed lasting connections with fellow musicians. Ida began performing with the youth bluegrass band North Country Blue, gaining valuable experience playing at festivals and events throughout the West Coast. She later joined the bluegrass band West 45, performing with the group for two years. At age 19, Ida began teaching at Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, marking the beginning of her work as a music teacher. Since then, she has continued sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for mandolin, guitar, and singing through private lessons, music camps, and workshops. Ida especially enjoys helping students build confidence in their playing while encouraging an appreciation for traditional bluegrass music. Alongside her musical pursuits, she is currently completing her degree in Public Health. Following graduation, Ida looks forward to dedicating more time to performing, teaching, and staying involved in the bluegrass community that has shaped so much of her life.
