The Garage Jam is an open, friendly bluegrass circle that meets the first and third Monday of every month, from 6 to 8 pm. All kinds of pickers show up, from rank beginners to grizzled veterans, plus folks who just come to listen and socialize. The repertoire is straight-up traditional bluegrass, although the occasional old-time or folk-inflected choice will pop up. The format is the old-fashioned song circle, with each participant getting a turn to call a song and set its key, pace, and feel. An experienced jam leader and bass player are always present to help keep things on track. Everyone is welcome — come on down!
