Fathers Day Festival #43

Jun 9, 2018 | Welcome Column

You’ll see my ugly mug to the left for an entire week and a couple days; that’s because each year during festival week the web team takes a well-deserved vacation to they can enjoy our festival without  distraction.

If you have a question about the event, dial 209 588 9214. That’s my phone number; each year one of my jobs is to take all of the calls and email leading up to the FDF. I try, for the fun of it, to get a sense of the impending event by a sort of unscientific seat of the pants analysis of the hundreds of contacts I’ve had. What has stood out this year is an unexplained spike in the number of folks who’ve begun their email or voice mail with something like…”So, my wife and I haven’t been to the bluegrass fest in several years, but we miss it so we’ve decided to make it back up there.” Awfully gratifying to hear. It’s also very, very clear to deduce from the calls and mail that, again this year, we’ll see many more new young families…one, in fact, from the Great State of…BRITAIN. A wife and husband and their four year old twins. If you spot ’em, be sure and say hello.

So now it’s time to click the “Add Welcome Column”, kiss Lynn and Will and Sid and Rudy goodby and head for Nevada County. This is festival 42 for me. The FDF courses through my blood. It’ll be a great one…and made greater by your attendance. Please come if your able.
