What should we play today to celebrate Halloween? Here are a few suggestions:
Bringing Mary Home by the Country Gentlemen
Spootiskerry (traditional Shetland fiddle tune)
Long Black Veil
Oh Death (Ralph Stanley)
Ghost in this House (Allison Kraus)
Midnight in Montgomery (Alan Jackson)
Caleb Meyer (Gillian Welch)
There’s seven just to get you started but if you need more bluegrass music is full of murder ballads. My favorite is perhaps Little Henry Lee in which the female character does the killing. Willie is not the only name to watch out for, it seems. Have fun and pick solid!
