Guitar Soloing 2/3

In this class, you will learn to get in deeper connection with your innate musicality — to remove the barriers between the ideas in your head and the guitar fretboard. We will deconstruct scales and learn that each note has its own purpose and character. We will strip melodies to their most basic forms and learn how to build compelling solos from that foundation. We will learn how to view common guitar “licks” as templates and create variations of them. We will learn to play “wrong notes” and make them sound “right.” We will use our new-found knowledge of scales to create chords and connect the fretboard all the way up the neck. We will discuss strategies to develop solos that have strong themes, dynamic range, and emotional expression. And, above all else, we will work to develop a fearless and creative mindset that will lead to freer improvisation that sounds like you!
