My name is Dan Mazer. Using the stage name “BanjerDan,” I’m a “banjo-centric” acoustic musician/entertainer, originally from the Washington, DC area, now living near Santa Cruz, CA. I have 50+ years’ experience playing Bluegrass and other styles, primarily on banjo, and I have a degree in Music Theory from George Washington University.
My main focus is banjo, plus I have some skills on guitar, dobro, and mandolin. I can teach banjo to an advanced level, and the others to an intermediate level. I can also offer lessons on how to read music, understanding Music Theory, and I can offer general advice on performance skills.
I prefer to teach at my place in the Santa Cruz mountains, but I’m willing to travel around the Bay Area, and I can teach remotely as well.
My rate for lesson at my place is $50.00/45 minutes.
My rate for lessons at the student’s place is $75.00/45 minutes, with an added charge for a drive of more than 25 miles.
My rate for online lessons via Zoom, etc. is $40.00/hour.
