The COVID-19 Lockdown Playlist

Written by:

If you’re looking for some quarantine-appropriate music, look no further. Here are 40 tunes to bring you down, lift you up, remind you of better days, but also of brighter days ahead. There’s mostly bluegrass, but a bit of country, because if you’re like me, you think Willie Nelson’s “Hello Walls” is just about the best theme song for the lockdown ever written.

Hank Williams’ “Howling at the Moon” is there for all you 8 p.m. howlers.
There’s just a few drinking songs here, and we won’t tell if you’re having a bit of whiskey before breakfast.
Kenny Baker’s “Festival Waltz” is just a sad and beautiful reminder of the festivals we’re missing.
Finally, you’ll find one John Prine (RIP) song here, which has some of the best advice for the quarantine you’ll find:
Blow up your TV throw away your paper
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
–John Prine, “Spanish Pipedream”
And, I had to include Rhonda Vincent’s “You Don’t Love God If You Don’t Love Your Neighbor,” as a reminder—take care of your neighbors.
Stay safe and healthy, and keep picking.
