Greetings folks! Well, summer has come and gone so it’s time to start thinking about the next year’s Grass Valley, right? Band applications for Vern’s Stage 2018 at the Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival are open from now until November 15, 2017. Read below for the process on how to apply to play on Vern’s, one of the best showcases for up and coming California based bluegrass, old time, gospel, and traditional music bands!
To be eligible to play Vern’s Stage, bands must be California based and play bluegrass, old time, gospel, or traditional music. If you have played Vern’s in the last two years (2016, 2017) we still like you, but you are not eligible for playing this stage again yet.
APPLICATION MATERIAL PACKET:
Three full songs – any digital format is fine! (Video, mp3, links to specific tracks on a website or youtube page are all fine! We would like to encourage video submissions when possible. We do not take cds.)

Bands who applied to be California Showcase bands and did not get selected are encouraged to apply for Vern’s Stage. (Bands can apply simultaneously to both the California Showcase and Vern’s Stage, but if selected for the 2018 California Showcase would be ineligible to play Vern’s in 2018.)
TO APPLY: Please send your application material packet to your California Bluegrass Association Area Vice President and tell them you are applying for Vern’s Stage 2018. (Do not email the Vern’s Stage Committee directly). Not sure of who your Area VP is? Here is a listing of Vice Presidents and Areas: https://www.cbaweb.org/About/AreaVPs – if that doesn’t clear it up please email the Vice President closest to you. There is no limit to how many bands Area Vice Presidents can submit to the Vern’s Stage Selection Committee.
The deadline for applications for Vern’s Stage is November 15, 2017 – you must have your application in by that date to be considered.
Please note Vern’s Stage is part of the Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival, put on by the California Bluegrass Association. The 2018 festival runs June 14-17, 2018.
