So I asked Lynn, well in advance, what she’d like for Valentines Day. She batted her lashes, smiled the smile that made me fall in love way back in the last century, and said, I’d like a sea cruise. Do you think we can afford it, I asked, thinking about the $40 K deck we just had installed. What’s more important, she said, is do I need it? I agreed, as I always do, that what Lynn wants and needs provides a very steady road map for our shared existence.
So today we (a big bunch of people from the CBA and good friends from SoCal) will board the very, very big boat. When my darling helped me pack, a happier, more buoyant woman I’ve never spied. Lynn’s time home alone, free of my larger-than-life, cartoonish presence, will be just what the doctor ordered. I can certainly suffer four or five days if it means giving my girl a brief respite.
See you on Friday, friends.
