Our Camp Facility and Location
Camp Whispering Winds
Whispering Winds Camp & Conference Center is a refuge – a place where youth, individuals, couples, families and groups can get away from it all and enjoy the serenity of nature. Nestled in the Cuyamaca Mountains, Whispering Winds is 161 acres in the scenic Cleveland National Forest, five miles south of the historic gold-mining town of Julian, CA.
While primarily a Catholic family retreat and conference center, Whispering Winds is open year-round to all faiths, with 2022 its second year as host to the Julian Family Fiddle Camp. It is a full-service camp, offering fine meals, varied activities, and small and large group meeting places. It has dorm, family and semi-private sleeping accommodations, as well as sites to park RV’s (dry camping) and pitch your tent. It’s buildings are beautifully appointed and its easy-to-walk grounds are well-maintained. It is a lovely and accommodating facility in the heart of one of the most beautiful parts of Southern California.
Julian, California is a serene, getaway town, nestled in the Cuyamaca mountains just an hour east of San Diego, and known for their delectable apple pies and local wine. It’s perfect for visitors wishing to stay in the mountains, day-trip to nearby Anza Borrego Desert State Park, visit San Diego’s beaches or the many other attractions in or around California’s southernmost county.
Julian Family Fiddle Camp has become a part of the cultural fabric of the Julian community, and enjoys incalculable support from its residents and merchants. Those who’ve attended JFFC in the past, and those who come for JFFC for the first time, will no doubt enjoy the ambiance and rural, old-world charm of this lovely small mountain town.
