Raised in a musical family, Forrest first took up the bass at the age of ten to back up his two older brothers in their first family band. His love for bluegrass, old time, and the American roots tradition developed while studying music at Colorado College, where he was fortunate enough to learn from bluegrass director Keith Reed. Over a decade of touring, festivals, shows, recording sessions, camps, and late-night jams has benefited Forrest with humbling musical opportunities and creative outlets. His time spent in music has fostered a deep appreciation for the community focused intentionality that the bluegrass and roots scene is built on. In 2023 he earned his master’s degree in teaching from the University of Washington, and in addition to staying active in the music scene now also works as an elementary school music teacher in the Seattle area.
