All workshops are held in the conference room and are free. We have gathered fantastic pickers who are experts and wonderful teachers. Find the workshop that suits you and come ready to learn.

How to use a single mic in bluegrass

Presented by The Honey Buckets
For: performers who would like to learn the skills of using a single-microphone.

Honey Buckets single-mic workshop is an instructional and demonstrative performance covering the techniques, benefits, challenges and reasons to use a single microphone. Topics include harmony techniques, instrumental dynamics, moving around the mic – what we call “The Dance”, gear requirements and more! The presentation is both conversational and musical including a Q&A portion.

Bluegrass Jamming 101

For: New friends of any age who have never been taught the basics of bluegrass jamming.

If you’ve never been to a bluegrass jam, this is your place to start. Beginners will learn the basics that will give them the confidence to join in on the jamming.

For: Beginner banjo pickers.

Beginner banjo class taught by Keith Frankel of Whole Hog. Come learn the basics!

Bass – beginner

Presented by Ryan Triolo
For: Beginner bass players or anyone interested in learning.

This beginner friendly workshop will focus on left and right hand technique. Basic music theory will be included, so that you can support a bluegrass jam. Discussion of groove and note choices in simple bluegrass chord progressions.

The Business of Songwriting

Presented by Joanne Ledesma

Bring or perform an original song and pitch to a pro. Joanne will evaluate songs, give tips on where to pitch for profit and answer your music business questions.

Improve and advance flatpicking techniques, build speed, and learn to pull maximum tone.

Mando – Intermediate

Presented by Josh Bergman
For: Intermediate mandolin pickers hoping to improve their skills.

Various mandolin techniques will be taught at this intermediate workshop, such as tremolo, double stops, crosspicking and arpeggios, and other techiniques the group would like to explore.

Bluegrass Harmony Singing

Presented by Mary and Karen

The ladies of “Bluegrass Holiday” will teach the fundamentals of 3-part vocal harmony singing.
